Our Beliefs & Culture

at Kalama Nazarene

Our Mission is to Go out into our community and the world to reach others with love, hope and the gospel! We are called to GO and be “Fishers of Men”.

“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

- Jesus in Matthew 4:19

GO NOOKS!

We are called to be a LIGHT in our City on a Hill.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

- Jesus in Matthew 5:14

We all desire authentic relationships and warm connections with others.

Come Join us! All are Welcome!

We Believe - Statements of Faith

We believe in one God / the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe in the Old & New Testament to be God Breathed and is helpful for teaching, training and rebuking.

We believe the nature of humanity to be sinful, resulting in eternal death and that humanity cannot save themselves.

We believe Jesus to be fully God and became God incarnate, fully man simultaneously. He lived life on earth with both natures / the nature of God and the nature of humanity. He was from a virgin birth, performed miracles, was judged, crucified and died taking our human nature to the cross. Death didn’t stop Him. He rose from the grave, defeating death so that we might be set free.

We believe in Prevenient Grace - that God loves everyone and has been pursuing everyone from their very start, because He is a good God who loves fully.

We believe that salvation is given to those who have a sincere and contrite heart before God and surrender their life to Him. They are then given eternal life through the Holy Spirit that dwells within them. We refer to this as, Initial Sanctification regarding one who is “saved” due to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in Progressive Sanctification - which just means that God continues to ever be working out His good within us, helping us overcome our desires for sin and aiding us to love others fully as He does.

We believe in Entire Sanctification. This does not mean we are entirely done with being sanctified, God continues His work in us; but that we reach a point of a second surrender or a recommitment to follow Him wherever He may lead us.  When we walk with Jesus we just keep falling in love with Him, and grow in our walk with Him where we are ready to follow Him further down the path He calls us too.  This is a maturity in our faith as our heart starts to want what God wants.

We believe in Final / Glorified Sanctification - which is perfection after we pass from this world into the next. We may not be perfect in this life, but sin, pain and illness will have no hold on us in the next in the presence of God.

We believe in miracles, the works of the Spirit and that we are to testify about how Jesus is working things out in our lives and the lives of others.

We believe in infant baptism. Infant baptism regards the faith of the parents and the community of faith willing to raise the child in the love and light of Jesus.  We also practice baby dedications celebrating God’s heart for the child and what He will do in the life of the child.

We believe in the sacrament of believers' baptism and their choice to be “sprinkled” or “dunked”. We have a full baptismal … but we also have the Kalama River!

We believe in the sacrament of Communion. We have an “open table” for those wanting to participate with the right heart. We take communion in various forms.

We believe God loves all and is working to reconcile the world to Himself.

We believe Jesus will return as Judge, King & Savior.

Overview of the Nazarene Church

The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, tracing its roots to an anniversary date of 1908. It was founded to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. Today the Church of the Nazarene is located in 159 world areas.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church. Our mission is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. We believe that God offers to everyone forgiveness, peace, joy, purpose, love, meaning in life, and the promise of heaven when life is over by entering and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are called to take this message to people everywhere.

The Church of the Nazarene is also a holiness church. We believe that Christians can experience a deeper level of life in which there is victory over sin, power to witness and serve, and a richer fellowship with God, all through the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
