Worship Arts Ministry- What to Expect on a Sunday

Our Worship Arts Ministry Vision

To encourage and support a safe and diverse environment where individuals can build relationships and encounter the presence of God and grow spiritually.

Thus allowing us to lead our congregation, through musical expression and arts to worship and experience the love and acceptance of Christ our Lord.

KCN Worship Philosophy

  • Mission

To be a layer within the church/congregation that is inviting for anyone who feels that worship is where they can connect. A place open to all levels of musical ability, whether to learn, teach or grow in those abilities, to be able to serve. Overall we hope to create an intimate space between you and the Lord allowing Him to speak directly to your heart in such a way to draw you nearer to Him.

  • Covenant

Depending on the Roles, Responsibilities and the Professed Faith of those who serve, there is a Covenant (A Call of Accountability) to be made for one to uphold in their moral walk with Jesus. If they violate the Covenant of Accountability, depending on the situation, they may be asked to step back as they are walked alongside, back to a place of redemption where they are joyfully welcomed back.

  • Worship Arts Ministry

    What we are:
God first / Encouraging / Authentic /Preparing hearts / Praising God

    What we aren’t:
Performers / Competing against one another / Selfish / Our Agenda first

  • Philosophy

Worship is an “entry point” humbly leading to the throne of God. It is also a connecting point for community alongside fellow believers. Worship, unfortunately, is often viewed as the musical portion in a Worship Service followed by the preaching/teaching portion.

At Kalama Nazarene, we view Worship as an experiential and often experimental door in which we pass through. Music is one door. But it is not the door for everyone. The Worship Services at Kalama look to be an artistic hour of many “entry points” for one to enter into a time of worship.

Worship “entry points” can be sensory based. We hope to create a space where people can experience the presence of God through visual art (hung, live or participatory), monologues, dramas, object lessons, testimonies, music, etc. We want to give room for Jesus to reach us as we quiet ourselves to reach back.

Our Worship Team is more than musicians, but artists of various natures that help usher others to the throne of God. In this we do not have an expectation of perfection of craft, but authentic hearts that take joy in the creative side of God’s presence and desire to go deeper and be an invitation to others to join in.

Ultimately, worship at KCN is a place to prepare our hearts, connect to God and each other, and Praise our Lord and Savior!!
